Heavy Truck Maintenance Mechanic

Full Time (M-F, 8:00AM-5:00PM)
(1 Hour Lunch + Two 15-Minute Breaks)

Requirements:

• Valid Driver's License

• High school diploma or the equivalent

• Tool box with basic tools needed to perform work (Specialty tools are available for use when needed)

• Ability to interact well with others and maintain appropriate conduct

• Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices

• This position requires the ability to push, pull, climb, stoop, kneel, reach, grasp, and walk on a regular basis

• The essential functions of this position require a person to work with hazardous or flammable materials; AND/OR to complete tasks in which a lapse of attention could result in injury, including without limitation the operating, repairing, and maintaining heavy equipment, machinery, or motor vehicles

• Willingness to work the required schedule, complete employment application, submit to a background screening (to include criminal checks, past employment and education), the ability to pass a drug screen and physical as required by the Department of Transportation

Responsibilities:

• Perform preventive maintenance on heavy and medium duty trucks and trailers including but not limited to: oil change, fuel filter change, chassis and fifth wheel lubrication, brake and wheel seal replacement, light bulb replacement, repairing air lines.

• Complete required forms and other paperwork needed to document the work performed and services needed on customer's vehicles

• Recognize, document, and notify service advisor when additional repair needs are identified

• Verify work performed is without fault and meets company and industry standards

• Understand MSDS labels and HAZCOM procedures (training provided)

• Understand, remember, and follow instructions

• This position is designated as safety sensitive by the company, and the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is required

• Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job

• Basic time clock computer skills
